Katie Spotz is an endurance athlete, author, and humanitarian. Once a self-described “benchwarmer,” Katie discovered that ordinary people can accomplish extraordinary things. Since then, her adventures—from rowing the Atlantic Ocean solo to running ultramarathons across the United States—have helped bring clean water to more than 50,000 people.

Katie will launch on a 10,000-mile solo row across the Pacific Ocean—pushing for the record for the longest nonstop ocean row by a woman and aiming to become the first American woman to row the Pacific solo. This 10,000-mile world-record attempt is to help provide clean water to 100,000 people! She takes off in December from Lima, Peru!

“She used her raw courage to row the Atlantic, all alone, for 70 days—to make sure people who will never know her name have clean water to drink.” — Diane Sawyer, ABC News
